Our Story
A collector's obsession with oud.
Who we are
Huzefa didn't set out to build a fragrance house. He's a Kuwait-based collector who has always been drawn to luxury and fine craftsmanship, and long before Treppan existed, people already knew him for the fragrances he wore. Perfume wasn't a hobby. It was closer to an obsession.
A Discovery in India
The same scent, an ocean away.
It happened during the COVID years. Huzefa was in India when he crossed paths with an oud seller, and the moment he caught the scent, something clicked. This was the same oud worn all over Kuwait and the wider GCC. He hadn't expected to find it there, and that one encounter was enough to pull him in further. Where did this material actually come from? How was it made?
To Assam
Those questions took him to Assam. He wanted to see the plantations for himself, walk the land where the agarwood trees grow, and watch the extraction process up close instead of just hearing about it secondhand.
Where Treppan Began
A generic process, and an idea.
What he found wasn't what he expected. The distillation process was generic, almost careless, with none of the attention the material deserved. Standing there watching something so valuable handled so casually, Huzefa started thinking there had to be a better way. That thought became Treppan.
Building From the Source
Back again, and again.
He kept going back. Over several more trips, Huzefa built real relationships within the industry and eventually bought farmland of his own, already planted with mature agarwood trees. He also dug into the science of it, learning the difference between agarwood that forms naturally and agarwood that's induced artificially. That knowledge became the foundation for how he'd eventually produce his own oils.
Materials Few Are Willing to Pursue
Beyond oud alone.
From there, Huzefa began producing on his own, taking on oils that most people in the industry avoid. Today that work covers both Arabic and Western fragrance traditions, and it goes well beyond oud alone. Sandalwood, rose, jasmine, amber and hundreds of other materials have passed through his hands, each one treated with the same care he first saw missing in Assam.
Why the Atelier Exists
One client, full attention.
Treppan works by private appointment because fragrance takes time to get right. One client at a time means every visit gets full attention, from first conversation to the fragrance you leave with.
